This is one of my favorite shots - unintentionally. I was scouting shoot locations on the Southern California coast when I arrived at La Jolla, the city of my Alma Mater - University of California at San Diego. Just before this picture, I remember being tired of 100+ miles of slow coast driving and scouting. By this time, the clouds came in at the moment I was hoping to catch a sunset. Disappointed, I forced myself to get out my car, break out my gear head toward these really interesting looking rocks with the tide rolling in to shore. Taken with my then Nikon D5200 through a Tokina 11-14mm wide angle lens which exaggerated the foreground rocks while still showing deep into the ocean where seals were relaxing for the evening. For a “scout” mission, I came back with a nice capture.
